As part of the winter season, the Active Longevity Center of the Baikonur district organized an intellectual tournament on the topic “The Alashorda Government and Figures of the Alash Movement” among teams from the districts of Almaty, Baikonur, Esil, Nura, and Saryarka.
The main goal of the event was to promote national history, preserve and popularize the legacy of the Alash figures, and increase the level of knowledge and cognitive activity of the older generation.
The tournament questions focused on the national liberation movement of the early twentieth century, the history of the Alashorda government, and the socio-political activities of its leaders — Alikhan Bokeikhan, Akhmet Baitursynuly, and Mirzhakyp Dulatuly. The participants confidently answered the questions using historical facts and archival data, demonstrating a high level of preparation.
“Five teams consisting of retirees took part in today’s intellectual game. The event was initiated by an active retiree of the Baikonur district, Sailaukül Yessenbekova. Such meetings help seniors connect with each other, gain positive emotions, and have a beneficial effect on the thinking and memory of elderly people. The theatrical performance about the Alash figures was especially well received by the audience,” said Dariya Alikyzy, specialist of the Prospective Development and Social Projects Department.
According to the jury’s decision, the prize places were determined and the winning teams were awarded diplomas:
🥇 1st place — Nura district, team “Ulagat”
🥈 2nd place — Esil district, team “Syr Sandyk”
🥉 3rd place — Saryarka district, team “Saryarka”
During the event, participants paid special tribute to the contribution of the Alash figures to the country’s independence and discussed the continuity of their ideas in modern society.
Such meaningful and educational tournaments give the older generation spiritual encouragement and serve as an important example of preserving historical memory for young people.
