Last weekend in Astana, the Round of 16 stage of the 2026 Senate Cup Rapid Chess Tournament took place. A total of 56 pensioner chess players from the Active Longevity Center took part in the intellectual competition, competing against one another and demonstrating their skills.

The team representing the Center in the veterans’ championship was led by experienced 80-year-old chess player Mergalym Nurumov. During the tournament, around ten participants from the Center showed a high level of performance and advanced to the next stage of the competition. This highlights the strong interest of seniors in chess and their high intellectual potential.

According to the results of the competition, 66-year-old Korlan Atusheva from the Baikonur district achieved the best result and won first place. Her victory became a vivid example of perseverance and experience.

The Active Longevity Center places special emphasis on organizing meaningful leisure activities for seniors and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Such competitions not only increase participants’ activity levels but also provide great opportunities for developing intellectual abilities.

We wish all participants success in the upcoming competitions!
