The “Kyzdarai” dance ensemble, made up of grandmothers from the Nura district, won a prize at the international multi-genre competition “SUMMER FEST TASHKENT” held in Tashkent.
More than 20 dance groups from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia took part in the event.
At the competition, “Kyzdarai” performed the dances “Keng Dala” (Wide Steppe), “Expression,” and “Aesthetic,” excelling in each genre and outperforming their rivals.

The “Kyzdarai” ensemble was established under the Active Longevity Center of the Nura district, and is led by professional choreographer Irina Smagulova.
“Our dance group is quite young — it’s only two years old. In that short time, we have prepared nearly twenty dance performances. Retirees aged 62 to 77 who attend the Active Longevity Center show great enthusiasm for joining the dance group and are eager to learn. The composition of the ‘Kyzdarai’ ensemble is constantly evolving, our dancing grandmothers are always exploring new ideas, and the repertoire is very diverse,” said the ensemble’s artistic director Irina Nikolaevna.
