November 17 marks World Prematurity Day, a date that reminds us how important care and support are for babies born prematurely.

On this day, visitors from the Saryarka district traditionally visit the Mother and Child Center. Our pensioners prepared for the visit in advance: for two months, the women gathered together to knit children’s items from natural wool — socks, hats, booties, and small blankets. Each item was handmade with care and warmth.

In Kazakh traditions, wool symbolizes protection, health, and well-being. It is believed that such items help babies grow stronger, improve their alertness, and positively affect their nervous system.

For parents, attention and support from the local community provide significant moral encouragement. This annual initiative has become a symbol of human unity, reminding us that even a small act of kindness can warm the heart.
