On January 15, sports instructors of the Active Longevity Center, in cooperation with the Akimat of the Almaty District, organized an arm wrestling competition among senior citizens. Nearly 20 retirees expressed their willingness to test their strength in the event.
The competition was judged by Daulet Khamzin, an instructor from the City Directorate for Mass Public Events of the Astana City Akimat, and Shalkar Khaiyrzhan, a manager of the Social Affairs Department of the Almaty District Akimat.
According to the judges’ decision, in the women’s category, weight class up to 60 kg (Category 1), Irina Chagai, Kamila Shakirova, and Lazzat Imanbayeva took the top places. In Category 2, women weighing over 60 kg, Botagoz Spanbetova, Bakyt Nukenova, and Bakytkul Baiymbetova emerged as winners.
Among the men, in Category 1 (up to 75 kg), Maksut Nurushev, Kairat Khaidarov, and Nurabai Akhmetov outperformed their opponents. In the weight class over 75 kg, Askar Isabekov, Almagazy Kukushev, and Tanibergen Imanbayev claimed prize-winning positions.
According to the organizers, arm wrestling has significant health benefits, helping to improve physical fitness as well as providing positive psychological effects.
The competition was exciting and engaging. All winners were awarded certificates of appreciation and commemorative gifts.
