The Active Longevity Center, which focuses on promoting an active lifestyle, strengthening health, and developing the creative potential of older people in the capital, is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Ahead of the International Day of Older Persons, an inter-district festive flash mob titled “My Elders Are My Greatest Treasure!” was held at the K. Kuanyshbayev Theatre venue to mark this important milestone.
Over the past five years, the Center has brought together older people from all six districts of the capital and has become an important space where they can spend their free time meaningfully, acquire new knowledge and skills, take care of their health, and pursue creative activities.
The celebration began with a procession of dombra players, a symbol of Kazakh national art. Around 50 dombra players from the Esil, Nura, Baikonur, and Sarayshyq districts performed Kurmangazy’s famous kui “Saryarka,” allowing the audience to experience the power and beauty of Kazakh traditional music.
Throughout the flash mob, the Center’s key areas of activity were showcased through art, education, health, creativity, and friendship. The “Saryarka” dance group performed the “Rukh” dance, highlighting national culture and spiritual values, while a fashion show presented traditional Kazakh clothing.
The stage featured the modeling groups “Kazakh Grandmothers Who Amazed the World,” “KERBEZ MODELS,” “Ak Bata,” and “Altyn Mura,” as well as participants of the “Labour Therapy” program, who presented outfits inspired by traditional Kazakh culture. The procession of older participants was particularly impressive, combining elegance and grace with national identity and a modern outlook.

Education and personal development are also among the Center’s important areas of activity. Older people study foreign languages, improve their digital literacy, and actively participate in intellectual games and educational activities. During the flash mob, representatives of the “Syr Sandyk,” “Ziyatkerlik,” and “Kazakh Intelligentsia” groups presented this area of the Center’s work.
The principle “Health is the greatest wealth” also featured prominently in the festive program. Pensioners engaged in Nordic walking, qigong, Aikune, and therapeutic exercise demonstrated the importance of physical activity in maintaining health and an active lifestyle. In total, around 120 representatives of the older generation showcased their skills and enthusiasm in various health and wellness activities.
The traditional “Kara Zhorga” dance, which promotes national values, also added to the festive atmosphere. Dancers from the Esil, Baikonur, Nura, and Sarayshyq districts came together on one stage and invited the audience to join them in the dance.
The main feature of the event was not only the presentation of each district’s individual talents and achievements, but also the unity of all participants around shared goals and values.
“Five years — five milestones! Five years of art! Five years of education! Five years of creativity! Five years of health! Five years of friendship! Five years of active living!” — this slogan captured the main idea of the festive flash mob.

Over its five years of operation, the Active Longevity Center has developed various clubs and wellness, creative, and educational programs designed to make the lives of older people more meaningful and active. In each district of the capital, pensioners can pursue their interests through creative activities and sports, expand their knowledge, and make new friends.
Today, more than 22,000 pensioners attend the Active Longevity Centers across the capital, where they have access to more than 20 different types of social services.
Around 400 pensioners from the Almaty, Baikonur, Saryarka, Sarayshyq, Nura, and Esil districts took part in the festive event.
The inter-district flash mob became not only a celebration of active living among older people, but also a vivid example of how national values can be passed on to future generations while strengthening friendship and unity.
