On the eve of the International Day of Older Persons, a team arm wrestling competition among retirees was held at the Active Longevity Center in Almaty District. Teams from the “Zheruyik,” “Aikune,” “Gym,” “Pilates,” and “Rehabilitation Gymnastics” clubs took part in the sporting event and competed against one another. The competition featured intense contests among both men and women. Representatives of the “Gym” club demonstrated strong results in both categories. Among the men, participants from the “Rehabilitation Gymnastics” club also showed high results, while among the women, participants from the “Aikune” club demonstrated their athletic skills.
The event was supported by the Directorate for Sports and Mass Events of the Almaty District Akimat. Following the competition, the winners and prize-winners were awarded cups and certificates of merit. The awards were presented by Serik Karabatyr, Director of the Active Longevity Center.
The main goal of the sporting event was to encourage older people to engage in physical activity, promote a healthy lifestyle, increase their activity, and strengthen friendly relations among participants. The competition was held as part of the Month of Older Persons and brought participants positive emotions and a cheerful atmosphere.
