As part of the Month of Older Persons, a meaningful meeting was held in the Baikonyr District, bringing together representatives of the older generation and young people through sport.
The Active Longevity Center in Baikonyr District hosted a friendly table tennis tournament titled “Unity. Friendship. Sport!” for senior citizens and volunteers from the Astana Zhastary Youth Resource Center.
The event was opened by Serik Karabatуrov, Director of the Active Longevity Center, who wished all participants success and an enjoyable game.
“Meetings like this are very important. Sport not only promotes good health but also brings people closer together and strengthens friendship. Through today’s gathering, we aim to strengthen interaction between young people and the older generation and promote intergenerational continuity. Around 80 senior citizens regularly attend the table tennis club at the Active Longevity Center in Baikonyr District. The Center provides all the necessary conditions for people to stay active and engage in sports,” said Serik Zholaushyuly, Director of the Center.
During the friendly tournament, participants competed in table tennis and demonstrated their sporting skills. A total of eight pairs took part in the competition. The energy and enthusiasm shown by the senior participants were particularly inspiring for the younger generation.
The main goal of the event was to promote an active lifestyle among older people, encourage them to spend their free time meaningfully, increase physical activity, and strengthen friendly ties between young people and senior citizens.
The gathering was not only about competition. Participants also exchanged views, enjoyed informal conversations and spent time together in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Such meetings give people of different generations an opportunity to get to know one another better and exchange experience and goodwill.
At the end of the tournament, all participants received certificates of appreciation and commemorative gifts.
The “Unity. Friendship. Sport!” friendly meeting not only promoted a healthy lifestyle but also highlighted the importance of intergenerational continuity and mutual respect in society.
