The Kerbez Model Group from the Active Longevity Center of Astana’s Saryarka District proudly represented Kazakhstan’s national culture at an international cultural and arts festival in the People’s Republic of China, winning the Gold Award.
From June 9 to 14, 2026, the city of Urumqi hosted the Le Dance World – Xinjiang “Tianshan Cup” International Cultural and Arts Exchange Festival. As part of the Leyue Shijian Literary and Cultural Festival, the Kerbez Model Group, consisting of performers aged 65 and over, took part in the event. The festival aimed to promote the cultures and arts of different countries, strengthen friendship and cultural exchange among creative groups, and showcase national traditions on the international stage.

During the festival, the Kerbez Model Group presented a collection of traditional Kazakh national costumes, earning high praise from both the audience and the international jury. The elegance of the costumes and the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people attracted significant interest from participants and guests from China and other countries, receiving warm applause.
Following the competition, the Kerbez Model Group was awarded the Gold Award in the National Costume Showcase category by decision of the international jury. The award ceremony took place on June 11, 2026.

In addition, the festival organizers presented the group with a commemorative flag as a symbol of the cultural friendship between Kazakhstan and China. The flag bore the message: “Two countries, one heart. Together on the path of art, dancing on the same stage, let us write a bright chapter of friendship.” This gesture highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and mutual friendship between the two nations.
In return, the members of the Kerbez Model Group introduced the traditions of Kazakh hospitality by presenting the festival organizers and leaders with shapans (traditional Kazakh ceremonial robes) and national gifts. This meaningful gesture was warmly received by the international guests.

This outstanding achievement at the international festival once again demonstrated the growing global recognition of Kazakhstan’s national art and cultural heritage. The victory not only promotes the country’s rich cultural traditions but also contributes to strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
In recognition of their outstanding performance and the high evaluation of the international jury, the Kerbez Model Group of the Active Longevity Center in Astana’s Saryarka District received an official invitation to participate in another international arts event, which will be held in Zhuhai, People’s Republic of China, in September 2026.
