On May 16, 2026, the 11th regular congress of the Republican Public Association “Organization of Veterans” was held in the capital city. The congress takes place once every five years and brought together 120 delegates from all regions of the country.
Before the beginning of the congress, an exhibition of decorative and applied arts was organized for guests and participants, featuring contributions from the Almaty, Sarayshyk, and Saryarka districts. The works were presented by the leaders of the creative clubs of the Center for Active Longevity — Aigul Yerkinovna, Zhibek Serikovna, and Kidirkul Orymbaevna — together with the club participants. Preparations for the exhibition had been underway for a month.
The exhibition featured handmade works created using crochet, papier-mâché, string art, bead weaving, and carpet embroidery techniques. Each piece reflected the participants’ craftsmanship, patience, and creativity. Special attention from guests was drawn to the handmade items created in a traditional national style.
The Center for Active Longevity also actively operates creative clubs and workshops, including “Kilem Toqu” (Carpet Weaving), “Urshyk Uiiiru” (Spindle Spinning), and the “Grandmothers 80+” club. These activities help older adults preserve traditional crafts, develop their creative abilities, and maintain an active social life.

During the congress, participants reviewed the report on the work carried out by the Central Council and discussed tasks for the further development of the veterans’ movement. A report was delivered by Acting Chairman of the Central Council, A.B. Tasbulatov.
Following the congress, a new composition of the Central Council, the Audit Commission, and delegates to the 10th Congress of the International Union of Veterans’ Public Organizations of the CIS were elected. Abilgazy Kaliakparovich Kusainov was unanimously elected Chairman of the Central Council.

After the congress, an organizational plenum was held, during which Abay Bolekpayevich Tasbulatov was elected First Deputy Chairman.
The event was held in a warm and ceremonial atmosphere, bringing together representatives of the older generation, public figures, and members of creative groups.
