On April 29, a large-scale cultural event dedicated to International Dance Day and May 1 — the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan — was held at the Zhetisu Park, organized by the Active Longevity Center of the Esil district. The open-air праздничный evening brought together the center’s elderly participants as well as city residents, leaving everyone with vivid impressions.
The event opened with the Kazakh dance «Akmarzhan», performed by the «Zhаña Tolqyn» dance club. Graceful movements in a national style immediately captivated the audience and set the tone for the evening. Throughout the program, dances representing various cultures were widely showcased. The «Khanshayym» group performed the passionate Spanish dance «Gitana», evoking strong эмоции among the audience. Meanwhile, the «Ai Bi» group presented the Turkish dance «Halay», highlighting the beauty of Eastern culture.
A special highlight of the evening was the historically significant dance «Yablochko», an expressive performance portraying the courage and resilience of sailors during the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the «Bi Sazy» group performed the classical dance «Padespan», demonstrating elegance and refinement. The «Shabyt» group’s Jewish dance «Hora», the rhythmic «Mood» dance by «Khanshayym», and the «Country» waltz by «Ai Bi» enriched the program with cultural diversity. The «Rhythm of Tolqyn» dance by the «Zhаña Tolqyn» club lifted the audience’s spirits. The «Retro-style спортивный dance», combining sport and art, also drew particular interest.
At the end of the evening, all participants — senior performers and spectators — joined a flash mob held as part of the traditional patriotic challenge «Kazakhstan is Our Common Home», demonstrating unity and harmony. The center’s cultural organizer, Gulshat Alekeshkyzy, подчеркнула the importance of the initiative and expressed heartfelt gratitude. The event became a vibrant part of the capital’s cultural life and was remembered as a warm evening that strengthened friendship and mutual understanding among people of different nationalities.
