The “Asyl Mura” dombra ensemble of the Active Longevity Center has won the Grand Prix at the 8th International Creative Instrumental Arts Competition held in Bishkek.

During their performance, the group masterfully played the kuy “Adai” by Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly, captivating the audience with their artistry and heartfelt expression. The inspired performance clearly demonstrated the ensemble’s high professional level.

Today, “Asyl Mura” includes more than 30 talented retirees. The ensemble is led by Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan and renowned kuy performer Batyr Temiraliev. The members gather twice a week at the social service center in the Esil district, where they regularly rehearse.

“The competition in Kyrgyzstan was highly competitive, with many dombra and kobyz players, as well as solo performers. As a creative showcase, we performed the song ‘Zhylqyshy.’ Our ensemble includes professional musicians who previously performed with the Kurmangazy Orchestra and have continued their artistic work even after retirement. We have also won prizes at competitions in Tashkent, Taraz, Turkistan, and Kokshetau,” said the ensemble’s artistic director, Amankul Tokbergenova.

Notably, this year marks the 5th anniversary of the “Asyl Mura” dombra ensemble. Composed of representatives of the older generation, the group stands out for its diverse repertoire and makes a significant contribution to the promotion of national cultural heritage.
