On December 5, the Public Council of Astana held a public hearing dedicated to the operation and development of Active Longevity Centers.
The initiative for the hearing came as a result of requests submitted by senior residents of the city through the Public Council’s Telegram bot @Qogamdyk_kenes_bot.

This platform allows city residents to directly voice their proposals, which are then reviewed within the Council’s mandate and brought forward for open discussion.

The request highlighted that the Active Longevity Centers have become an important space for communication with pensioners, strengthening their health, and encouraging their active participation in social life.

Currently, a number of practical questions require attention: how the centers are financed, how the program is developing, how accessible participation is across different districts of the capital, what the registration procedure looks like, and whether there are opportunities to expand programs and increase the number of participants — including improving transport accessibility and diversifying activity areas.

The residents’ initiative indicates a growing demand for such centers.
Therefore, it is important to maintain open dialogue and seek solutions, including discussing the possibility of expanding the network of centers, placing them near cultural facilities, and improving participation conditions.

Based on the results of the public hearing, the Public Council plans to prepare concrete proposals and submit them to the relevant government bodies.

In cooperation with the appropriate authorities, issues concerning the interests of elderly citizens in the capital will be considered gradually.

The event was held with the support of the Internal Policy Department of Astana city as part of the project “Organizing the Activities of the Public Council” and was organized by the public foundation “Belsendi Azamat”
