Pensioners from the Center for Active Longevity held a meeting with students of School No. 73 in Astana as part of a program promoting generational continuity. The event was initiated by history teacher Gauri Zhomartova. The meeting took place within Gauri Botakanqyzy’s authorial program titled “Lawyers of Alash: Applying Innovative Methods in Researching the Themes of Independence and Continuity” and became a meaningful educational event. During the meeting, Erkin Kasenov — an active member of the Center for Active Longevity, performer of the “Ádemi” ensemble, theater director, and honored cultural worker — held an open discussion with students in an “Open Microphone” format. He emphasized that the country’s future lies in the hands of educated youth and inspired the students with his motivational words.

In addition, Sultan Khan Akkululy Zhussip, a scholar, PhD in Philology, and Director of the Alash Research Institute, spoke to the students about the importance of the Alash movement’s ideas and their contribution to Kazakhstan’s independence. Students asked questions about the lawyers who founded the Alash Orda government, their historical legacy, and the importance of generational continuity. They also learned fascinating facts about the legal experts who drafted Kazakhstan’s first Constitution, their concrete contributions, and historical significance. The event highlighted the Alash intellectuals’ struggle for national independence and their broad legal and creative achievements.

“The meeting was both meaningful and emotional. Students learned many new facts and were deeply impressed. Representative of the Center for Active Longevity Erkin Tleugazyuly recited patriotic poems by Mukhtar Shakhanov and Fariza Ongarsynova. Such meetings are of great educational importance,” said history teacher Gauri Zhomartova. The main goal of the event, aimed at promoting the history of Kazakh intellectuals, was to acquaint youth with the Alash leaders’ role in the struggle for independence, their achievements in law, and to foster a spirit of patriotism. “Today’s meeting was very informative and inspiring. The example set by the older generation is truly valuable. Our 10th-grade students are currently working on a documentary film about the Alash figures, so this event was very helpful and insightful,” shared 10th-grade student Estay Ertai. Students from grades 8 to 10 took part in the open dialogue. At the end of the event, they took photos with the speakers and expressed their wish to see more such inspiring meetings in the future.
