Since 2024, the «Úrpakqa amanat – Intellectual Development» club has been operating at the Active Longevity Center of Baikonur district. The club members gather weekly according to their interests, organizing literary and cultural events. Today, the club unites around 20 retirees who are passionate about literature and the arts. The club is led by veteran teacher and language advocate Marzhan Bektursynkyzy, who also heads the Kazakh language circle. In honor of the International Day of Older Persons, the club members, together with school students, held a cultural and informational event of historical significance titled «The Bright Star of the East», dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s first scholar Shoqan Ualikhanov.

The event was attended by representatives of the Baikonur District Council of Veterans, residents and veterans of Ualikhanov Street, as well as young families and the younger generation. «As part of the Month of Older Persons, we gathered on the street named after the first Kazakh scholar, Shoqan Ualikhanov, who would have turned 190 this year. It is symbolic, since the Baikonur district branch of the Active Longevity Center is located at the intersection of Abay and Ualikhanov streets. I would especially like to note the efforts of our retirees — Kalima Dyussenbiyeva, Rymtai Shaimukhanova, Balta Aubakirov, Toktar Makazhanov, and Marzhan Khasenova — who actively contributed by collecting materials about the scholar’s life and work,» said the head of the club, Marzhan Primbetova.

The evening concluded with performances of songs that Ualikhanov loved and reflections on his inspiring life path. Participants left the event in high spirits, expressing gratitude and joy.
